24 December 2018
I've just returned from a week or so in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand and I've written a few words about my last match there, which you can find under Ian's blog on our website or by following this link:
I've always been pleasantly surprised at the amount of interest many of you have shown in my exploits with the ICC so I hope some of you may enjoy these few words.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your commitment to umpiring and scoring in 2017 and for making such a positive contribution to cricket in Scotland. We all have ups and downs during our season and we are all (sometimes openly and often unfairly) criticised but we, generally, just get on with it and do a very good job.
I think, as a group, we have made further strides forward this year, thanks to yourselves and the untiring efforts of your Committee and sub-committees. As Chair, I am very fortunate to have such quality to work with.
I'd like to remind you of the upcoming ECB ACO courses we are running across the country:
I also have another couple of dates for diaries - the provisional date for the AGM is Sunday 17 February and there will be a workshop for the guys on the Regional Umpires Panel over the weekend of 2 & 3 March.
For this of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you a very happy one and to everyone, all the very best for 2018 in your umpiring, scoring and every other aspect of your lives. Finally, for those of you who have sent me Christmas cards or messages, many thanks.
